Python Web App: Compare Methods of Parsing US Street Addresses

United States street addresses are surprisingly complicated. Street addresses in the United States are made up of a series of components. Adding to that, there are specialized addressing methods in certain parts of the country (contained in section E of the US Postal Addressing Standards document). The good news is that you don't need to know anything about addresses for this project :) instead, this project focuses on building a web application to compare different technical methods of parsing individual address components out of a single string containing the street address. The three methods we will be evaluating: LibPostal ([login to view URL]) USAddress ([login to view URL]) SmartyStreets Online REST API ([login to view URL]) The attached file is a crude mockup of what I envision the screen to look like. 1. On the left side of the screen, the user inputs a street address (as one single field, not broken up into components), the city, state, and ZIP Code. 2. The user then submits the query. 3. Make sure your responses start with "I LOVE street addresses!" or else they will be ignored. Let's see who's actually reading these descriptions :-) 4. The input is then fed to LibPostal, USAddress, and SmartyStreets to see how each option parses the components out. My preference is to have this single screen when application be developed using Python. There is a Python bindings library for LibPostal ([login to view URL]), USAddress is a python package, and there is broad REST support for querying the SmartyStreets API. Looking to start ASAP. This only has to be a bare-bones application. It does not have to be polished. I'm hoping to get it done quickly - it just has to work - no bells and whistles.
