Assistance in ASP

Dear all, I am learning ASP and would really appreciate if someone couls assist me in this stuff that i cannot seem to figure out. I would like to have certain calculations or procedures executed at programmed timings. I believe there are a few ways of doing it like creating a VB .exe files which will trigger the executions. Apart from that i also believe there is WHS and .dll files which can be installed into servers to trigger procedures according to you what you have programmed. I would really appreciate if a programmer very familiar with programming ASP and ablity to program the execution of the above mentioned problem. Please assist me in teachin me how to go about with getting it done with either notes, websites and some MSN or Yahoo assistance. I really hope you understand that i am a student and cannot afford to pay much.
