We are seeking a highly motivated freelance PC network administrator with in-depth experience of Microsoft Windows 2003 and 2008, Networking, Internet Information Server and ideally Team Foundation Server and Sharepoint. Your role will be to maintain, support and improve a small network infrastructure within a busy Microsoft web software development and design company based in Kennington in London.

There will initially be a flurry of activity while advising on upgrading the existing infrastructure followed by an ongoing maintenance situation of around 10 hours per month (possibly more) . You must live reasonably close by and be able to come into our offices now and then SO PLEASE, NO OVERSEAS APPLICANTS. Only people who live and work in and around London will be considered

You will:

- Assist us in coming up with a plan for upgrading and improving our existing systems and then help us implement it

- Be responsible for installing, configuring, upgrading and troubleshooting hardware, network operating system and software

- Be responsible for the day-to-day operation of our web, database and application servers

- Assist in selecting the proper hardware and software to satisfy our internal needs and those of our clients.

- Develop complete hardware and software solutions from general user requirements, evaluate related hardware and software products and make recommendations for adoption.

- Oversee the implementation of proactive policies and best practices for IT infrastructure

- Advise and consider security issues and implications

- Manage backup schedules

- Set in place daily procedures using scripts and other automation techniques where possible

- Provide proactive support of hardware, software updates, security patches and revisions testing

Requirements:

- Proficiency in Windows Server 2003 up to 2008

- Experience with SQL Server 2005 database management

- Ability to configure and administer Internet Information Services (IIS)

- Knowledge of networks, routers, cabling and IP configuration

- Software / hardware systems experience

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Team-oriented player / flexible schedule

- Familiarity with current trends

- Experience in working for a development focused company

Desired Skills and Pluses:

- Knowledge of Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS)

- Knowledge of Microsoft Sharepoint

- Knowledge of live production environments

- Software debugging experience
