I want a javascript function that will draw an image on an HTML5 canvas so that the image fades to TRANSPARENT. The gradient TYPE (linear or radial) and DIRECTION should be parameters passed to the javascript function.
It is important that the image fades to transparent and not a color, so that whatever is in the background is visible (eg. an image in another element giving the impression of the 2 images fading into each other).
drawFadingImage(context, imageSource, type, direction){... }
eg. drawFadingImage(myCtxt, "/[login to view URL]", "linear", "LeftToRight");
Thanks!
I have experimented heavily with Javascript and the HTML5 Canvas. I have never attempted what you are describing but I can think of a way to do it using ImageData and quite a bit of math. I have the tools necessary to test such code as well. I believe it should also be possible to change the fading type (linear, radial, bilinear, border) and the offset of the fade. It may take a little time, but should be very possible.
