For our Dreamweaver portion of this class you will be working on your Final Project in which you will be building your very own Online Career Portfolio Website. This website will show prospective employers how talented you are and what you can do, so that they might hire you. Your personal portfolio website will be all about you. It will include your education, experience, your projects and any accomplishments. You are trying to promte yourself, you will be the brand and your name is the brand name. No one is going to know about your brand unless you promote it. So, if your goal is to become a Software Developer, Database Administrator, Web Developer, Digital Marketer, Game Developer, etc, a website containing personal statements, contact details and experience is valuable. Creating an online brand presence is about capturing the attention of the targeted audience. A prospective employer may ask you this question "Why should I hire you?" You need to answer this question with your online portfolio. Your targeted audience for this project will be a prospective employer and you will build your website selling yourself to a prospective employer. While the actual content of your portfolio will differ depending on your major and job prospect, there are a few critical elements that every portfolio should have: 1. Homepage: As the front door to your website, your homepage should be an inviting place. It needs to clearly express what the site is and attract users to read more. Navigation on this page should be easy to use and easy to find. 2. Biography or "About Me": A professional biography tells visitors who you are and what you have to offer. Show your personality, but remember to be professional. 3. Updated Resume: Include a copy of your resume, you can include a print or download option. You may exclude your home address from your resume, but be sure to include some form of contact information. 4. Portfolio or Samples with caption: Your work samples provide proof of your skills, knowledge, experience, and distinctiveness. The main reason anyone will visit your website is to see your work, so give them sufficient samples to look at, but do not over do it.
