We are looking for a Sr. Delphi Programmer. We are looking for proven experience / skills in: • Instrumentation Components (technical UIs - gauges, bars, flashing LEDs soft of • Serial port programming, • Technical Charts, i.e. TCharts • DataSnap / callbacks, stuff) - please indicate which ones you use • Capable of building Modern UI, yet minimal & responsive to varying screen sizes • Strong Relational Database Experience, i.e. SQL Server and/or MySQL • Knowledge of REST Web Services APIs and communication with them • Familiar with JSON Data • Expert Debugger • High-Availability, we expect you to be available via IM (ideally skype), email, or phone if need be. • Fast-yet HIGHLY CLEAN-Coder • Ideally, you have solid FireMonkey experience, and can port this app to Mac and make a mobile version. We have started work on it already, and have a clear idea of what we need, but need a dedicated programmer. We shall provide you with a sketch / possibly demo of what we are looking for and will ask for certain things to be done, including parsing a string sent from serial port, serializing, displaying data over grids, building a control panel with buttons for sending specific strings over serial port, adding a basic chart that plots the data from the serial port. Hello. I've been using Delphi since version 1.0, up to XE7. Before that I've used Turbo and Object Pascal for years, and I've worked a lot with serial (and also parallel) comms, especially LED Panels and analog interfaces. I've been working on every aspect of client/server software for the last 17 years. That includes TCP/IP comms, developing APIs (proprietary and more recently REST), Database Modeling (Pervasive SQL, MySQL and SQL Server) and User Interfaces. I'm quite familiar with REST, XML and JSON, as I work with those on a daily basis. I consider myself to be a fast enough coder, and I do share your appreciation for clean code, especially well-structured, self-describing code, since a large part of my job usually involves developing APIs and wrappers for other people to use. My weak points regarding your description would be Charts (I haven't used any for a long time), and Firemonkey (never used it yet, I've been doing Windows native exclusively) but I don't think that's too much of an issue. Regarding the Datasnap question, I take it you mean what comms stuff I tend to use. I've been using Overbyte's ICS since it started, and I swear by it. Lastly, I expect to be fully available by the start of October. Hoping to hear from you.
