Work Management System (00639)

Project Description The development of a web-based work management system in .NET which has already been started and is around 50% complete. Details; Three Tier Approach The application has begun development using a three their approach, this helps to separate business logic from the database, and the look and feel of the application. Required Data Classes There is a partially constructed DBWrapper class that uses [login to view URL] to map database rows onto objects. This DBWrapper class should be used to constuct classes for each business object that is required. The required business objects include: • Employees • Clients • Jobs • Quotes • Users Each of these objects should contain a collection of relevant items. For example [login to view URL] should be a collection of EmployeeItem items. The EmployeeItem class will be a relatively methodless class as this is essentially just a holder for employee details. To create the Employees class you must inherit from the DBWrapper class and ensure that the remaining methods for the DBWrapper have been completed (Appendix A) The Employee class will inherit from DBWrapper. The Employees constructor should be Overridden to build mappings and set queries for itself, it must then call itself to ensure the default constructor is executed. Once this has been completed custom methods can be applied to the class in order to introduce the Business Logic, and queries can and should be ran through this._fetch(query), this will automatically page and order using its properties. This process should then be completed for and remaining Data classes. The end result should be a collection of classes that can interact with each other. Required Presentation Layer The presentation layer consists of a collection of ascx modules some which have already been constructed using their own DataAdapters and quires. Each module can be loaded when required in the page. The existing site layout should be as much as is required to see how it should operate, the only major difference being that instead of using their own data sources the ascx modules should use the Business Logic in the classes created previously. Word Generator A class has also been created which will allow for the generation of Word documents based on templates, this will be required for the generation and storage of template based documents.
