I am a Mechanical Engineer
I have done 3 projects on Freelancer
1) Assembly and Simulation of robotic arm using Catia
2) Editing and Assembly of Pill Dispenser and its parts using SolidWorks
3) Design, Assembly and Rendering of Breeding Box for Parrots using SolidWorks
I have used Reverse Engineering module and used sketch tracer module.
So it will be possible to load jpg files into the software and construct 3d surfaces and models from jpg files.
Both projects 2 and 3 involved complex geometries and curves including spline curves and sweep functions, lofts etc.
Project 3 was done with a jpg file and just 3 dimensions of a tray inside it, the length width and height of the tray. The jpg file had an isometric view of a finished realworld product. From that I was able to design an entire product of 6 different parts and assemble it successfully.
3d rendering was also done for project 3
2d technical cad drawing was also made for project 3
project 2 and 3 was 3d printed.
I use a third party cad conversion software which can batch convert a wide range of cad formats to give output in multiple cad formats.
It can batch convert cad files, so it is easy to provide stl,step,igs,pdf,jpg,dwg,dxf,3mf,parasolid binary, sldprt, catprt etc
3mf,stl,step,igs are 3d printing and manufacturing formats
