During that time, I have designed avionics systems while at GEC Marconi (Now BAe) Flight Automation Research Laboratory, written financial trading software for Reuters, designed digital television set-top-box accessibility add-ons for the RNIB and Sky, and latterly designed and delivered a digital television fault monitoring system for the BBC. This is part of the schematics for an add-on box I designed for Sky to interface with their own set-top-boxes. Primarily designed for use by the visually impaired, Skytalker took information about the programme being watched, the channel name and EPG information and vocalised it over the TV speakers.

Using Sealed Lead Acid batteries as a storage medium, this circuitry provided the charge conditioning for each battery from either Solar cells or a fossil fuel generator, plus an integrated inverter to supply power at 230V AC.
