We are starting to put together a stock photography (and eventually video as well) website using the Stocky Theme and Easy Digital Downloads. While I have limited experience with Wordpress I will need to hire a developer to conduct tasks which are above my skill level. Experience with Easy Digital Downloads is a must!
We plan to launch a more basic website and then scale up form there in a number of stages. Further stages are in the pipeline, but would require a significant budget, so would like to see how website goes initially with these stages. Note we have set up the basics with Stocky theme, Easy Digital Downloads and Wordpress, as well as activating a number of plugins.
Stages:
1) Initial launch:
a) Use exif data from photo uploads to create a searchable Google Map on home page.
- Due to the number of photos when there is a group of images together from a distance rather than a large number of individual dots. An example [login to view URL]
- Some way to set location if no exif data available would be good.
- A click of marker on google map will show preview of photo and link to purchase page.
- Below Map will have a number (say 20) of the nearest photos, that changes as the user changes the map/location.
b) Create a search bar with the option to search via locations (primary) or keywords/tags (secondary)
c) Variable options for each photo, with different prices. A reduced size image (720p), full size image and raw file. I can set these up manually for Stage 1, put would be good to automate creation of the 720p image for Stage 2.
d) A more custom upload process may need to be done here to suit our specific needs, rather than the current options provided by Easy Digital Downloads.
2) Additional users:
a) Easier way on the Vendor Dashboard of Easy Digital Downloads for users to upload multiple photos (saw 10) at the same time. For each photo upload, the full size image is automatically reduced to 720p image for cheaper price. Also option to add raw file.
- Uploaded to Amazon S3
- Easy sign up via Social Media. Social Login plugin from Easy Digital Downloads already set up,.
- Review system for admin to approve all upload. Already set up through Easy Digital Downloads.
- Different commissions for different users to be set manually.
3) Videos:
a) Allow videos to be uploaded and generate a different coloured icon on Google Map from Stage 1.
