Many companies today face the problem of both over-stocking and under-stocking and these have a significant impact on the quality of service to customers and cost of holding stock. My proposal is not a one-off work; it is a set of statistical models that should be used periodically to forecast the order time and quantity to order for each stock item in a warehouse. The statistical models make use of the calculated values of mean and standard deviation for both demand and lead time. If the client does not have these, I can process the raw data from an excel worksheet prior to input in the statistical models.
