Dibutuhkan sensor dan sedikit interface untuk mendeteksi suatu area/space apakah terisi kendaraan atau tidak. Sensor tsb. akan mengirimkan data logic ke processor/mikrokontroler yang kemudian akan memproses data tersebut dengan mencatat waktu keberadaan kendaraan tersebut. Data ini berguna untuk memberikan informasi ada atau tidaknya space kosong kepada calon pelanggan kendaraan yang akan parkir. Selain itu data waktu digunakan untuk mencatat/print billing parkir yang akan ditagihkan ke pelanggan. Sistem ini dapat berupa Mikrokontroler atau PC Based Parking System, dan dapat disesuaikan dengan budget.
