Easiest way for Windows hosts is to use psexec and for Linux ones paramiko python modules (although there is lot more options; on Windows boxes you could use ssh too, it's included in recent versions), rest is just a matter of using regex to parse/manipulate output of remotely executed commands and some conditionals to act depending what returned values are. Everything should work out of the box. There are ofc some details that I would need to know, e.g. if Windows hosts are in domain or peer network.
