Good day! You might not need the dfplayer since you wont be able to play anything that is not from its sd card. There is a library that we can use that can play sounds without the dfplayer. Also recently i was able to do something similar where I was able to transmit wav data from one esp8266 to two other esp8266 where they would be able to play it from there.
