The attached script uses vpython and provides a 3D rotation of data. It works as I have tested it !!
I want to use the attached script with my raspberry pi 3. I would like the script edited so that:
a) it runs on the raspberry pi 3 and takes automatic input of data from one of the USB ports without doing more than turning it on
b) it plots the data on a simple 2D chart (with vertical and horizontal scales that I can edit and easily put numbers on). Please see attached for the kind of graph I am looking for.
c) there is no need to use the vpython reference in the script which is currently used to perform 3D rotations of the data which I do not want. As such the reference should be removed.
d) you provide comments in the code to help me understand what is done
Complications
a) I am a complete novice with python and raspberry pi so you may need a bit of patience
b) The script interprets code from a lidar and teensy (see [login to view URL]) which you probably will not have. Therefore you will need to have a very good grasp of python and raspberry pi to know what you are doing so that you can understand the code and edit it without having access to the incoming stream of data. I am happy to test versions until it works.
My experience with raspberry pi and python make me the ideal candidate for this project. I am very familiar with 3D transforms and matrices and can get you the results quickly. I am also happy to iterate the process until you are satisfied.
I have the raspi3 at hand, so I can test it myself and minimize errors before proceeding on to iterating with you.
Combined with my expertise in linux, I can complete the programming for automatically reading the data when a USB drive is plugged in. My background in mathematics eliminates the need for using an external library (vpython) and implement the transformation natively.
