SegalChord is looking for a freelance writer talented in science fiction with the ability to write audio drama script. We are looking for a writer to fill our open slot in our 36th writing block. You can only get through the door by hammering on it, and keeping on hammering on it, until somebody opens it. And when they do, you must have something of your own to show them, so you must keep on writing spec scripts until one is accepted, or leads to a commission." - Anthony Read. If you are a professional writer, or someone who wants to learn the craft of writing, or just someone who has always wanted to write a Doctor Who story, then may we humbly offer the services of The Doctor Who Audio Dramas. SegalChord Productions is a group of professional, semi-professional, and amateur actors who have been making The Doctor Who Audio Dramas since 1982. Currently, we have over 160 stories. Our aim is not only to create an entertaining show, but to provide a learning experience for up and coming writers and actors. A place where people can "cut their teeth" as the saying goes. The Doctor Who Audio Dramas is an excellent place to hone your skills before diving into the unforgiving world of professionalism. To date, it has been our honour to have worked with several writers and script editors who have already been or have turned professional. Perhaps you will be next! As a writer, our script editor will work with you, helping you to polish your work for production as well as providing pointers and examples instead of just giving you a "thumbs up or thumbs down" as you would receive from a professional publishing firm or studio. When your work is finally finished, it will be produced complete with sound effects and music. We are looking for a writer to write the "Regeneration Story" for the current actor playing the role of the Doctor: James K. Flynn. Story is to be 3 to 4 episodes, each episode being between 15 to 30 minutes long. The standard rate for this type of script is $15-30 per episode. (Generally, $1 per minute of audio.) Bid accordingly. Your bid should reflect your quote for the ENTIRE script, not the per-episode amount. Bids that are above this standard rate will not be considered. You will work with a script editor. Deadline from project acceptance to finished, production-ready script will be no longer than 30 days. When bidding, please let us know what you've done in the past. Simply saying "I'm interested in your project" really doesn't give us much to go on. Examples of writing (especially scriptwriting) will be very helpful. A knowledge of the genre is very important since this is an important story in the show. If chosen, you may come up with a story of your own or fashion a story out of a synopsis we have. We are adding this option due to the very tight deadline. Important! If chosen, you must make regular, acceptable progress on the story. We have already fired two writers from this project due to their failure to make acceptable progress (missed deadlines and lack of communication on their part) so do NOT bid on this project if you can not make the full commitment.
