Woocommerce AJAX product load page

We are developing a new version of our existing woocommerce store and have customised our child theme (Woocommerce Storefront Galleria) so that the main shop page has a secondary navigation menu that lists product categories. When a customer clicks on one of these categories, we need to use AJAX to update one of the current product listing DIVs to load products from the selected category. This should be able to be a fairly easy task for a very skilled dev who knows their way around woocommerce (above my level of knowledge about WC/AJAX)
We have the AJAX load more plugin installed that can be tapped into to help or the functionality can be built standalone. No changes are to be made to the parent theme, or any plugins. Only the child theme is to be modified or you can create a new plugin for this functionality.
All code changes or additions must be commented/documented in easy to understand english for future reference.
