As far as future update is concern, so if there will be major update, like php 8 then you can only fix that once php 8 is out but there is no chance of that in near future. but regarding minor updates to php, site won't have any issue.

"String" is deprecated, use "CakeText" class instead in your code. Your cake was most likely updated above 2.7. If you replace String with CakeText in your code, you can avoid having to upgrade to php 7. I have quite a bit of experience with CakePHP and extensive experience with PHP 7 since beta, I'd like to chat a bit and discuss your options. PHP7 is a fair improvement in some areas,, though at present date it's rarely a requirement for most web applications (yet).
