Translated Content: As you will see, page 3 has instructions for you and any table of contents line that has "PHP" is also intended for you. Most requests are located on pages 14 - 22, but there are some additional items for you found on pages 58 and 66. These items marked "PHP" are the items you will need to swap the English text to the provided Spanish text.
The NFEC is seeking a web programmer familiar with WordPress and PHP that is fluent in English and Spanish.
We are modifying our US English online financial education course to suit the needs of those that reside in Mexico.
Please note, the primary purpose of this project is NOT translation or translation transcription. Being fluent in both English and Mexican Spanish is required, but direct translation from one language to the other is NOT the primary purpose of this project.
We need all the user-facing system-generated (plugin and WordPress core) text to be swapped out from English to Spanish. A translation service has already been hired to translate all elements from English to Spanish. You will need to locate the English text found within the plugins’ PHP files and swap it out for the Spanish provided to you from the translator service.
Please note, we do not want to convert the entire site to Spanish. Our web developers that will be managing the WP backend speak English. We only need user-facing elements to be converted from English to Spanish.
All system-generated elements and their respective plugin from which they generate have already been identified and documented for translation.
You will NOT need to be directly translating our curriculum from English into Spanish. Translation transcription services have already been contracted out.
You will be provided a document that identifies elements needing to be replaced in the system’s PHP files. The software (plugins) have been identified for you. Furthermore, the elements that need to be changed have also been identified for you. For example, the login widget states the English Words “Forgot Password” and has been identified for you to be replaced with its Spanish equivalent. However, in which exact PHP file within a plugin and line of code is where your job comes to play. You will need to locate where the English words are found within a plugin’s PHP file(s) and swap it out for its Spanish equivalent as provided by the translator.
Minor CSS adjustments such as basic “text-align:center;” or “display:none”
Test that all elements work and have been converted to their Spanish equivalent as expected. For example, error messages that only display after the user attempts to submit an error-filled field (such as an invalid email when registering, for example).
Ensure the translated Spanish provided to you makes sense in its context. I mean, common, technically we could just hunt down the code locations, go to Google translate, and copy and paste the “translated” words over into the PHP file. But we wanted to ensure we did this right the first time; a second pair of eyes (yours) is always welcome when dealing in another language our staff has very basic understanding of (if any at all).
