I need a script with any of the following languages to used: PHP, Python or Perl to run via commandline to merge 2 MS word documents. To run the program by issuing $PHP [login to view URL] <INPUT1> <INPUT2> or $python [login to view URL] <INPUT1> <INPUT2> or $perl [login to view URL] <INPUT1> <INPUT2> where INPUT1 = [login to view URL] INPUT2 = [login to view URL] OUTPUT: [login to view URL] or if docx: [login to view URL] Note: The output document should preserved all of the contents from the inputted documents like section structure (paper size, margins, associated footers and headers,...), includes all the required styles, manages all lists, preserves images and charts as well as footnotes, endnotes and comments. Criteria for acceptance: 1. I will test first the script to validate if its working or not. Granting if its 100% working, either in .doc or .docx files, then we will finally closed the project. 2. No initial milestone will be created 3. Payment made will be done after I confirm the script is fully working.

Hello! I gave it a try and wrote a script that is able to nicely merge .docx documents. I tested it and it works fine. Merging .doc is much harder and there might be various problems. So my advice for you is to convert your .doc files into .docx first (there are free tools for that) and use my script for merging .docx files. Please let me know if you are interested in this solution.

My understanding is that the two documents need to be merged as if one was simply added after the other (the first page of the second document would be the page after the first document). Formatting would remain the same on all pages as it had before, and it would still include images and comments. I'd like to use python to copy the two documents together. I researched, and there are necessary libraries available, and they are compatible with .doc and .docx files. I will use these libraries to extract the content and properties of the second document and place in them in the first document.
