PHP connection to AWS RDS SQL Database

I have setup a AWS RDS SQL Database. I have no problem connecting to it via Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. However I want to have my PHP application connect to the SQL Database. I am struggling to get this connection to work. I think I need to install a driver, but its a little of my head on how exactly to do this: [login to view URL] If easier I would be willing to switch my database to Mysql on Aws. I just need someone to help me setup this connection from PHP to my database on AWS.
