Magento1 security patch updates and 500 errors fixing

I need the latest security patches uploading to Magento ver. 1.7.0.2, then clear 2 x HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Errors in the checkout.
After investigation with web hosting, we have found malware which has been cleaned using Sucuri, but due to the old version of software the threat returns. So the software needs updating to the latest version, then we can clear the malware, then hopefully the 500 errors can be cleared.
I will give more details once we have spoken and found the right person to help.
