I will pay up to $150 for this whole project. Please only apply if this budget for the total project works for you. This is not a project for someone who knows a little bit about Wordpress - advanced PHP and HTML5 skills will be required.
Skineg a .com was initially developed a year ago and over the time it has evolved into a full ecommerce site with affiliate capabilities (AffiliateWP). The site was not built on a proper theme and consequently we’ve had lots of problems with various parts of the site.
It was initially coded as an HTML site, then when we decided to sell products online, my developer transferred it to a WP site so we could use Woocommerce, but he’s not a WP developer and didn’t take advantage of how easy WP can be, and so some code is in the site, some is in files, and it’s all over the place.
Also, a Child Theme was not used, so with AffiliateWP for example, any time there’s a plug in update, and alterations are lost, so this all needs to get fixed.
This project is to re-platform the site using a native WP theme, cleaning up all the code, and making all the pages look and feel like they currently do (with the exception of the front page and product page which I’ve attached a brief about), but with much simpler, cleaner code, and easy to scale in future as we bring more products into the mix. In essence, I want to change the theme, change the front page, and clean everything else up.
I am open to which theme you may use, but I have already downloaded on called GEM. It’s a customisable theme, but you may feel you don’t need this theme and have better ideas. My priority is for the site to look the same to users as it does now, with the exception of the front and product pages.
I will send you a PDF and PSD file of exactly how the whole front page should look. It has the same old footer, logo, and menu functionality, but apart from that it’s aesthetically different. It is a very simple landing page which effectively scrolls down about four pages.
This page used to sit on the front page, but I’d like the current product page to move to a proper product page; one that will function properly as a woocommerce product page, with reviews and so on. I don’t know yet how the reviews part will look, but let’s first of all get the existing product page from the “old” site (front page) and re-create it on its own page, and then see where we’re at. We can then look at the layout for reviews and so on.
The blog currently looks as I’d like it to look, but I don’t like the program/plug in its been built with. It’s very clunky. If there is a built in blog code to the theme you use, let’s go for that. If you disable the current “blog designer” plug in, and then go to the blog page, you’ll see the code that’s left behind. I’d still like to keep this.
I’d like as much of the code as possible consolidated where possible, and obviously I’d like this all done on a Child Theme so it works properly.
I’ll also enclose a mockup of how the mobile site should look (based on an iphone 6). There’s no change in content on the front page – just some layout changes for obvious reasons.
Code Clean Up
The site, apart from the first page, the product page, and maybe the blog page, should end up looking exactly as it does now. We change the theme, re-platform it with cleaner code, add the new front page, and move the product page. Add a child theme for any relevant stuff to sit on, and that’s it.
