Create Responsive Wordpress Gallery from Current standalone gallery

I have just moved a client's site into wordpress from standalone asp pages (the site is on iiS, but now has PHP/Apache/Wordpress installed.

The site has a gallery that is currently powered by a combination of an Access DB and a gallery folder of images. Below is a link to how the gallery currently functions.

The access db includes the following information:

The area of the concrete in the image...either "residential", "commercial" or "industrial"

The surface where the concrete in the image is used such as "pool deck", "driveway", "garages", etc (you can see all of them at the above URL).

The texture of the type of concrete in the image.

A brief description of the image

Currently, the gallery is sortable by pretty much any of these as you can see at the example URL above.

What I am wanting to do is to bring the gallery inside wordpress and power it from a gallery plugin of some kind and managed by wordpress instead of by the access db so that I can eventually move the site off of IIS for better performance.

I want to keep the same overall functionality of the gallery so that the visitor can see images from different areas/surfaces/etc. and filter down by texture if they choose to.

The gallery also needs to be responsive and completely mobile friendly including the gallery menu itself. I'd like to keep the desktop menu similar to how it is now, but obviously that won't work for many smaller screens and certainly not for mobile.

I've looked at a LOT of wordpress portfolio plugins (nexus, envira, etc.) and I think using the "Media Library Assistant" ([login to view URL]) to extend the base wordpress gallery functionality with custom categories (areas) ,subcategories (surfaces) , and tags(textures) and combing it with some type of front end display system may be the best choice, but I'm open to other options that would work as well.

I can get the images imported into wordpress and tag with the appropriate category/subcategory, and tags, etc. I just need someone who can create the gallery functionality as described above.

The final product must be within wordpress and editable in wordpress. I'd like to also incorporate some social sharing features such as a plugin to allow easy sharing on pinterest, etc. as well to the images in the gallery. A lightbox must also be included similar to the one currently being used that displays the full-size image and associated text description of the image.
