Our website is a freelancer wordpress site. It has a page devoted for member profiles and a separate page for projects as well. For Guest User: We want the code to find IP of the guest user, convert location to latitude/longitude, search on member table to retrieve geo location based results for projects and profiles. What should happen when a freelancer profile is created? Use location on member address (not location from login), convert to lat/long and save to the member database table. Then use this data to filter results in search What should happen when a freelancer project is created? Currently we do not store location on projects. We want the developer to add these fields, and record latitude/longitude for project location in the database Results for profiles and Projects Display search results by user's current location followed by city, state, country. Search pages: Fine tune the search parameters on search profiles and search projects pages to include criteria for zip code, city, region and radius. It will be beneficial to see your previous work similar to this. Please submit a fixed bid project. Thanks

once wrote something similar for BuddyPress (that one "Google Maps Cab-Finder" in my profile's portfolio is also distantly similar) ...while "IP to location" is anything but precise. can lookup regular postal addresses with rooftop precision - or fused geolocation from web-browsers. it's just rather likely to return relevant results while having some averagely precise values to compare.

I am currently working on a mobile app that takes geo location data and finds the nearest city using trig. I have used geo location IP tables supplied off the 'net (free versions) to get lat / long info. I find the nearest lat / long to the GPS lat long and do a city for nearest (km) entry. Depending on the degree of accuracy you require, you may need to purchase an IP table but up till now I have been ok with the free versions. You would most definitely need trigonometry to do search based on location.
