Requirement is for a backend server which will be responding to API calls from our Android App. The server can be based on any platform/programming language. (However, Ruby on Rails is preferable).Any open source database system like MySql or Pregre can be used as DB. The code will be deployed on VPS at Digital Ocean platform. And we will use [login to view URL] as repository for version control as well as for deploying it on the server. Response will be in JSON. The DB will have approximately 7-9 tables.
The Android app is a messaging (not instant) service. So the server activities are mainly basic queries related to Get/post/Update/delete calls apart from Sign Up (with Mobile number verification) and Login (Token based response, but if no token then Login with OTP). However there will be two complex operations which will be run by server: 1. For sending response to some API calls, the server will have to make a call to Google places API to get nearby place_ids; 2. A Cron will be run every day which re-calculates User’s score based on predefined formula.
Wherever any support for Logic is required, it will be provided by us.
Deliverables:
1. Development and testing of the server side
2. Pushing it to Repository and deploying it for Production (on VPS); and testing of the same
3. Post assignment support for any bugs related to code provided by the vendor
One operation which I missed is upload of user image. In this client uploads the user_image to the server using PUT HTTP call and then server uploads it to S3 bucket, gets url and saves it in the database. server does not keep the copy of the image after upload to S3.
