PHP to Ruby - 2 small scripts

I need these 2 scripts translated from PHP to Ruby. I know PHP but am new to Ruby and do not understand how the language handles POST data. I know that you access POST variables through the params hash like this: post = CGIMethods.parse_query_parameters(@request.raw_post). But I don't know if this is correct. These PHP scripts work with my PHP web apps but I'm developing with Rails now so I need them to work in Ruby.
