Use case: I want to send traffic to a particular website. I need to hide the true source of this traffic so that the owner of the site is unable to determine the orginal source of the traffic. It is not sufficient to simply strip the referral (with a HTTPS redirect), as the site owner will need to see an active website as being the referral.
After a bit of searching, it appears that others have found solutions to this problem. For example:
The premise of the above is as follows: We have a script, let's call it index.php. It looks at the referral, and if it's the original traffic source, then it redirects the user onto the destination URL. If the referral is something else, or none at all (ie. direct type in traffic), then the [login to view URL] returns a webpage. So if the site owner visits the referral URL, they'll just see a normal page (and I'll include a link to their site on this page).
The original traffic soruce does not parse a referral URL. So my suggestion would be for this traffic source to first hit a redirect script (ie. [login to view URL]), which instantly redirects to the [login to view URL] script.
It's important the script works consistantly and that it's very fast so that the user experience is not undermined.
Another solution:
[login to view URL] might be useful in the debugging process.
Since I've provided some really good starting points, I don't expect the project to be costly.

You will be more likely to be hired if you could demonstrate that you understand the problem and have already considered a solution. You may program the script in any popular language (Python, PHP, Ruby) as long as it runs on a Linux webserver with the default setup.
This should be a relatively simple and fun project for a hacker who likes to get their hands dirty. It's a fixed price project, but there could certainly be more work for you in the future if the relationship works out well. I have a solid reputation on Freelancer.com and developers have enjoyed working with me.
