My shopping cart (PDG Commerce) uses MySQL database and I need a script (possibly in PHP or CGI) that will generate a "Promotional Items" page automatically. PDG Tech Support will provide the programmer with the database schema to view all of the settings being used by PDG Commerce.
Currently, I utilize user-defined fields to store important information related to the shopping cart. USERDEF9 refers to the list price. USERDEF1 is for searchable keywords. PRICE refers to the current price of an item.
In a nutshell, this is what the script needs to do:
If <---PRICE---> is less than <---USERDEF9--->, write "promotional items" in <---USERDEF1--->.
If <---PRICE---> equals <---USERDEF9--->, DO NOT write anything to <---USERDEF1---> and DO NOT delete any information that may be in that field already.
Here's the catch:
********************************************************************
When an item goes on sale, the script automatically writes "promotional items" to USERDEF1. When the sale ends and the item goes back to normal pricing, the script automatically removes "promotioal items" from USERDEF1 without deleting any other information.
********************************************************************
Requirements for this project:
- Excellent knowledge and experience with MySQL
- Proven experience with PHP or CGI scripting
- Willingness to work with PDG Tech Support
- Ability to work independently as you will not have direct access to our shopping cart.
- Project requires writing the script and whatever else needs to be done in order to make this happen. It DOES NOT require script installation. I can do that myself.
As far as generating the "promotional items" search page, that's something that can be done very easily (once the rest is in place) and I'll be more than happy to show you how.
Any questions, feel free to ask.
