I am looking for a rating type widget that will be delivered after an email is sent to one of our customers.?
The program will accept parameters passed through a URL then it will add the the parameters to an XML file.
A pop up will be served to the customer saying thank you.
## Deliverables
Purpose:
We wish to get feed back from our customers on the type of answers they recieve from our support agents.
Getting the Data:
we will include HTML code in the emails we send out in the form of
<A HREF = "server/applet parameter 1 parameter 2 = 1"> Rate 1 </A>
<A HREF = "server/applet parameter 1 parameter 2 = 2"> Rate 2</A>
<A HREF = "server/applet parameter 1 parameter 2 = 3"> Rate? 3 </A>
Because it will be served from a customer's email box, use of typical parameters passing is somewhat restricted.
Functionality
Depending on which link the customer presses will will pass two parameters an ID# (varchar(13)) and an integer (1-5) to the applet.
The Applet will then write to an xml file.
<ratings>
<ticket>
<ticket_number/> (format ABCDEF-ABCDEF)
<rating/>
<rating/>
<rating/>
<average/>
</ticket>
</ratings>
And display a thank you page.
Functions:
//readParameters ticket:String in rating:Integer In
Recieves the parameters from the URL and assigns them to ticket and rating variables
//readWriteRatingsXML ticket:String in rating:Integer In
Opens [login to view URL] and searches it for a matching ticket number
if it does not find it it writes the ticket and rating to the ratings and average
if it does find an existing ticket, it reads the existing rating(s) and averages out the totals.
It replaces the existing average with the new average, if there are more than three ratings already for the ticket, it will replace the middle (as in 4, 2, 5 it would replace the 4) rating.
//thankCustomer
Displays a pop-up, simply thanking the customer.
Please ask as many questions about this project as you need.? I have very little coding experience, however I know what I want.
I prefer that you code in Java, as I know a little of that.? However, if you prefer to code in something else? that is fine as long as thier is documentation what ot replace for the thank you page.
