We are building a restaurant web site and this restaurant has few branches (less than 10 ). Web site visitors should be able to find nearest restaurant by entering their postcode, place name or a landmark. After the visitor entered their info (postcode, place name or a landmark), a list showing branch names and the distance to visitor's location must be shown as a result. You can see a working sample on [login to view URL] ( Find a Strada function) I want a sample code for doing that.

I have already prepared a working solution for your problem. Using Ajax and Curl, the desired information is obtained from the Google Maps XML API. By the way, I have more than ten years of programming experience (in particular with PHP, JavaScript, CSS and HTML). A reference project which I completely implemented and which is related to the present task is "[login to view URL]", where the job search functionality uses Google Maps.

Since you ask for sample code I propose I make the following: * A HTML file with a form with search field and submit button for either postal code, city name or landmark. * Look-up of the entered data in the Google API based with a selection of the correct location if multiple are returned. * Matching of that location to a predefined list of branch locations. * Showing a result list sorted by proximity. All would be in JavaScript. Cleanly configurable with your custom options (your actual branches) and offering easy integration in your actual website. This means you have to take care of managing branch information and supplying it to the JavaScript component. If this does not change often, you can of course manually update this. Both the configuration and use will be documented. Would that solve your question?
