I am already 1 week into implementing a time table generator in Java as web application (of a 50 days project) so I would have a head start on this if you choose. The 50 days estimate is based on -amount of work on the user interface - you need a way how to enter and manage all the data and the constraints. -size of the problem space you are trying to solve/model when generating schedule (I have identified 80+ unique input constraints so far that need to be considered) thus the business logic/algorithm is a non-trivial part of the solution -amount of our interaction needed to ensure you can integrate well with your main module and you are happy with the interface. 3 or 7 days is realistic only if person has the product already ready-made. 15 days for team of 3, 50 days for 1 to develop. I believe that you want to have also some fancy interface (JavaFX?) This may not be the best thing to do with the first version, because with application this complex, unless you are very clear what you want (have very specific requirements), experience tells that it is better first to get functional app, then figure out how you want to use it, and only then get the UI update to some fancier look&feel. Normally the most of the UI requirements come from practical use of application, and unless you have really detailed picture how it should be now, better wait till you have it. Even UI works better if it is designed as one block, not as a result of numerous changes. Best Regards, Standa
