We need a system that will convert our MPEG-2 Videos (full quality) to a compressed web-ready flash FLV format to put on our website. The system should take these steps:
1. MPEG-2 Videos (Many 1gb+) will be in a specific directory on a local server (not where our website is hosted). Videos in that directory will be converted to a compressed web-ready flash FLV format.
2. Once videos are converted they should be uploaded via FTP to our web server.
3. Once the videos are on the server, they should be added to a "gallery" based on their file-name. The file name will include a category and a title, and should be put in the correct category and named the correct title based on that file name (for example, we would make the filename something like [login to view URL] which should in the end be called "Episode 1" in the category TechTalk.
4. The video should play in a web based flash player when clicked on in the gallery.
This will be used with Joomla, though integration is not required since we can use iframes to embed the script. However, if the programmer can add Joomla support, that would be a bonus.
Our local server could support anything a Windows LAMP server can support, since we can install it ourselves (as long as it is freely available or open source). Our web server can support PHP/ASP/MySQL and it is a Windows server, though we can put it on a Linux server if necessary. Remember, though, that the conversion process will be occurring on the local server not the web server.
