First: I do not know PostgreeSQL. I worked with 1M records succesfully using MySQL Solution is to use DataTables plugin in front end with option "Server side processing" I am sure if you knw postgreesql is easy to connect all together using node/express Good luck

Query? Replicate? - What version of postgres are you trying this? - Do you have high transaction rate on this table or is this a huge table and not many queries? - Abstraction layers are usually quite an overhead on top of the db. So I need to know what type of queries are actually running and what is that your backend code handles? A common mistake is to query too much data from the db and trying to handle it on the backend. Excel defaults to "automatic" - meaning when you make a change to your spreadsheet, it automatically updates. However, this can be problematic with large data sets. Changing your settings to "manual" update can help speed up your work. The spreadsheet will only update when you tell it to or when you save, but this means you can do several changes at once without waiting for the document to recalculate. => Remove all conditional formatting. This takes up a lot of memory and excel is constantly trying to update and recalculate the formatting. We had done a very large size project with the same points.
