Build a Quote for a JBOSS based web application

This is Phase 1 of a 3-4 Phase project. This first phase is a discovery phase. I need to better understand how many hours and how much development is needed to complete a project. This project is to build a quote for a future project. The end goal of all phases of the project is to have a web based application to replicate the desktop software called Open Dental. I want to know what parts of the software can be replicated in a web based application. For starters, the accounting data, billing, contacting customers, submitting billing to insurance, entering dental exam notes, charts, treatment plans, and updating payment information. You will need to research what Open Dental does on their web site ([login to view URL] ). The application needs to handle user authentication with a Samba/Windows Domain (Kerberos/Active Directory) through the application. It also needs to handle user activity logging (logins and inactivity warnings and force log offs due to timeouts). The backend for Open Dental is a MySql based database running on a Red Hat/CentOS server. This application will use the same database. This application only needs to work with the database and I do not anticipate a need to interface with the desktop software in any way. The application will need to be written utilizing Red Hat's JBOSS middleware. The report should contain a summary with the number of hours estimated to develop this web based application broken down by hours required for each web interface/element/part.
