I have a Microsoft Access Database which I inhireted from a previous co-worker who left the company, and that database is built in a rather complex way that I am not interested in reverse engineer the whole thing.
my first challenge is the sensitivity of the data, therefore working with the real database will not be possible, all work should be done in a simulated environemnt which I can later on adapt to the database itself.
The database I have is a huge combination of tales, forms, reports, queries and macros, and there is one specific macro which I would like to automate.
to describe a bit about the process, when opening the database, a search function is used to find the correct "project", each project has a unique MSAccess ID and Business Order ID. under that project page many sub-applications are there, when selecting the Reporting Application (which is basically a query) the interface is now tagged with the project ID, report number (auto ascending) and so on. one specific button in that reporting section allows printing all project reports as PDF (5 reports for the project that is already open).
that button is simply running a macro, the properties of the macro and the button coding can be shared with whomever is going to work on this.
Taking in consideration that I have around 300 projects, I need a macro to run, which can generate these 5 PDFs and merge them, that macro should by dynamic to enable me selecting certain projects based on business Order ID number, (which corresponds to one single MSAccess unique ID)
some additional info:
when running the macro from outside (without selecting a specific project) I am asked to submit the Business Order Number, and the Report sequencial Number.
in case the VBA will be built in Microsoft Excel as a third party, the project database path should be dynamic, not hard coded
The output path of the reports should be dynamic,
it would be of a high importance that the extracted 5 reports of each project are actually merged into one PDF in a certain order.
more information can be provided during discussions

Sounds like a challenge, unpicking someone else's code is always fun. An option could be to create a new app alongside the existing app replicating various functions as you go, I'd be very interested
