Need help with the mathematical model and matlab model of a flywheel energy storage system which will be incorporated into an Battery Electric vehicle (BEV) to recuperate energy lost through breaking. The full project description is shown below: Project Description: Kinetic energy recovery systems (KERS) are now being considered to improve the regenerative braking efficiency of various types of transport system, to both reduce running costs and to reduce CO2 emissions. The idea of using energy recovery systems for electric and hybrid electric road vehicles are well‐established but the options for energy management using multiple energy stores on urban vehicles are less clear. Certain short‐journey vehicles could benefit significantly from being fitted with a KERS and an additional energy store (such as a battery). But KERS and batteries are expensive and the need for these energy stores to be controlled very effectively, to maximise their benefit, is paramount. This project will explore the energy management issues surrounding use of KERS plus a second energy store. By focusing on a particular vehicle, the project will address the following topics: -  The economics of regenerative braking for a particular vehicle type, in terms of a comparison of the costs of alternatives. -  The technical benefits of KERS plus a second energy store as opposed to alternative regenerative braking options. - A comparison of the efficiency of alternatives. - The design and adaptation associated with a hybrid system involving a battery and a KERS.  - A suitable KERS control strategy and its integration into the vehicle operation. -  The creation of a dynamic model and a control simulation capability to assess the practical operation of a KERS plus a second energy store in terms of the likely annual energy savings in running costs, and respective reduction in the operating carbon footprint.
