Think of a solution to smoothen 3D printed polypropylene

I am looking for an expert on plastics with knowledge about 3D printing. I want to 3D print a piece of polypropylene with high nozzle size (0.8mm). Somehow, I want to smoothen the printed piece so that the surface is completely smooth. What procedure is best to apply? Please note, the 3D printed piece can be very complex, so it is sometimes not possible to reach every corner by hand like if sanding by hand. Dimensions of the attached image: 15cm height.
The range of possibilities is infinite. Some of the solutions can go towards: sanding (if size allowed for it), applying a coating, applying a self-sticking later, print in 2+ pieces sanding and later glueing pieces together...
The chemical properties of the surface should be kept, so either do not apply a coating or apply a coating/film with similar (or better) chemical resistance than polypropylene.
