Associating Product Variants with Product Images in Shopify

We are using Shopify with the Minimal Theme installed.
On the product page I want to associate product variants with the appropriate product images using unique alt tags for product images.
For example if a product has 3 colors and the user selects a certain color the main image should change to the appropriate image.
