Creative Brief 1: Conceptual Map of Edinburgh You are to create a conceptual map for an area of Edinburgh of your choosing. The map does not have to be a map in the conventional sense, you are encouraged to think about your map in a more abstract form. You can be as creative as you like with the area for example; it could be the whole city, a street, a park or a specific building. A conceptual map is a way of showing your chosen area using a theme (such as colours, data, objects) that is not normally thought about when thinking about an area. Your finished map should be obvious in what your chosen concept is. As well as a map, you are to submit a minimum 5-page Ideas Book. This book must include the following headings: Background/Theme (min. 1 page), Influences (min. 1 page), My Ideas (min 2 pages) My Chosen Idea and Why (min. 1 Page) Detailed technical specifications of the submission are outlined further down in this document. Remember;  You are to choose one area of Edinburgh, it can be a small or large area  Pick one concept/theme to investigate  Consider who your map is aimed at  Submit an Ideas Book about your map development Background The first week of lectures (Week 2) will provide an overview of the brief. There will also be an opportunity at this time to ask questions about the topic. This presentation will take place during the lecture slot in week 2. Deliverables  Digital A2 Map, created using Illustrator.  Min 5 page Ideas Book – created using Illustrator Technical details of the deliverables are outlined further down in this document. Creative Brief 2: Blended Spaces In the same groups as before, you are to develop the map you created in submission one to become a blended experience. This submission will take the form a report and storyboard using the ‘Blended Space Framework’ template. Background Tom Flint will be delivering a lecture covering this brief and introducing the concept of Blended Spaces which will include further details on the requirements for the Blended Space Framework.
