Thank you for reviewing my project. I am highly committed to completing the first draft of a novel, and beyond, and recognize that I have taken it as far as I can on my own. This is a work of literary fiction. A brief synopsis is below.
A year after tragedy strikes, a grieving mother returns to the scene of her daughter’s death in the hope of healing or, at least, finding closure. What she discovers during a summer walking her daughter’s final footsteps will forever change what she thought about not only her daughter but herself. Her sanity will be tested, old relationships will be strained, and new ones are forged with her daughter’s last acquaintances, as, together, they attempt to unravel the mystery surrounding her death.
An emotional, heart-wrenching story of pain, loss, and sorrow, which also asks serious questions about not only life and death but morality and ultimatly choice for the ones you love.
I have conceptualized, outlined, and written a solid framework. However, the story is complex and involves not only regular flashbacks from past to present but also the necessity to weave in clues that tie into the ultimate reveal. With that said, here is what I think I need.
• Someone who has either completed a manuscript or has published a book.
• Someone who can help develop creative and impactful concepts (scene by scene as well as ones that tie into the greater whole)
• Someone who understands this is first draft and it will naturally be messy
• Someone who is willing to take it to the end with me (1st draft, 2nd draft, finished product) though I will only contract for individual parts at a time
• Someone who will be honest about my work. I don’t need smoke blown my way. The goal is to produce the most impactful and sound writing possible
• Though this is not a true mystery novel, I think someone with a “mystery type of mind” might work well here.
• Though I hope to complete all the writing myself, I am not opposed to a small amount of ghostwriting and/or significant edits of my work if need be. Again, the goal is to produce a great book.
I live in Connecticut and would ultimately like to find someone local, but I am open to remote resources as well. I use Scrivener for most of my work, but I am open to using other collaboration tools.
I am open to hourly rates, landmarks, and/or a flat rate for completion. I do not have a specific completion deadline in mind. Writing is not my full-time job so the project may last for several months.
