Camera Speed Measurement Module

The task is to write software that will calculate and output real-time speed information of a vehicle in m/s and km/h (selectable) as accurately as possible (max error < ± 0.3m/s). The software must run on an ESP32 SoC and interface with a camera connected to the chip for image processing, analysis and speed calculation. The whole package will be placed on the object which speed is to be calculated. The camera may be positioned 20-100cm above the ground and will be pointing to the ground. The system must work reliably and produce consistent speed measurements under all lighting conditions, including in zero lux (absolute darkness) and under direct bright light. A IR light will be used if camera detects the LUX is too low for continuous speed measurements.
