Many of them was later 3D printed. Construction tree of the model will be clear for understanding, so if you will need to correct something - it will be simple. I have over 15 years work experience, designing, prototyping and launching different devices/systems across multiple industries. I could help with your project, but I really need more details/info about. 1 - you don't need SW designer - any software is ok as long as the result is a good/clean dxf for cutting 2 - instead of laser cutting, I would recommend you waterjet cutting - a bit more expensive, but much better than the laser (higher precision, no need for after cutting processing (grinding the edges, removing the blue/black edges, etc, etc) 3 - bottom line, what you need is a flat pattern which to result after bending into that piece you shown in the pdf.
