Transfer NVIVO 10 project to CITAVI 4

An important number of PDFs files have been categorized, highlighted, and the highlighted passages categorized in a node hierarchy in an NVIVO project file. The objective of the work is to transfer the entire project (categorization of the files and categorization of the passages) from the NVIVO environment to the CITAVI environment. Since both programs are based on the .NET framework, knowledge of this framework might help. This means carrying out the following tasks (and all of them): DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK: 1. Reproduce the node hierarchy of the NVIVO project in a new CITAVI project file. Since NVIVO has a hierarchy for files (sources) and for coding (nodes) you will find in the template CITAVI document two main categories in CITAVI (sources and nodes) which reproduce the respective hierarchies. 2. Import all PDFs of the NVIVO project into the CITAVI according to the “source” hierarchy of the original NVIVO project. 3. Attribute to all PDFs imported in CITAVI a proper corresponding reference / citation information (i.e. they will be correctly identified in the “reference type” field as reports, articles or books; and all the corresponding information such as author, title, periodical, city of publication, publisher, date, etc. will be accurately filled in). 4. For each PDF annotated in NVIVO and imported in CITAVI, you will carry out the following task: 4.1. Highlight the PDF imported in CITAVI in such way that when opened in CITAVI, the PDF will show the same highlighted passages as in NVIVO. This operation is carried outside of CITAVI, in a software such as Acrobat Reader or PDF X-Change Viewer. 4.2. Within CITAVI, for each imported PDF, select each highlighted passage and generate a new "direct quotation” in CITAVI that corresponds to the highlighted passage. The following information needs to be accurately filled in: 4.2.1 Use the original node name at which the passage was coded in NVIVO to fill in the “Core statement” field in the “Direct Quotation” dialogue box. If there is more than one quotation per node name, use the same node name and add a number in parenthesis after the title ex: (2). 4.2.2. Fill in the “text” field with the actual text of the passage 4.2.3. Fill in the appropriate page range 4.2.4. Leave keyword empty 4.2.5. Fill in the “category” field with the appropriate location of the original NVIVO node in the hierarchy reproduced in step 1. DELIVERABLES 1. The freelancer who accepts the work will be asked to send updated versions of the CITAVI project at the following moments: 1.1. At the beginning of the project, the freelancer will send a updated version of the CITAVI file with ONE (1) PDF file highlighted and annotated (in addition to the one already annotated as an example), in order to check that all the steps of the work are understood. The freelancer will wait for a confirmation before moving ahead with the rest of the project. 1.2. The PDF files are categorized in 9 main folders in the NVIVO project. The freelancer will send an updated version of the CITAVI document at the end of each folder for control of the quality of the work. NOTES The freelancer will be responsible for downloading trial or free versions of NVIVO and CITAVI (both under Windows) to carry out the work. Some documents might be in French, but the majority of the documents are in English. The original NVIVO project is available via a dropbox link upon request for prospective bidders.
