Fix CSS to remove gaps in nested UL List

I need a CSS expert. I have a list of States/Cities using nested UL tags. The CSS adjusts the column widths correctly based on screen widths, however, there are a couple of issues I would like resolved. 1) The nested lists are leaving gaps and excessive whitespace. I would like these gaps removed. 2) The lists process left to right, then down. I would like it to flow down the first column, and then fill next column so the ABC's appear in the first column and XYZ's in the last column. Source files are attached. Happy bidding, Michael

I played around with a few possible solutions, but the only one that seems to get anywhere close to what you are looking for is one where the CSS flex display is used. You also have the wrong class name next to the Virginia "VA" header element. I used this for .col-states: .col-states { display: flex; flex-direction: column; flex-wrap: wrap; } I then used relational height on the .states for each @media rule: @media only screen and (min-width: 1201px) { .state { width: 16.7% } .col-states { height: 200vh; } } The height likes to auto-expand when using percents, so using a hard unit (relative or absolute) overrides that behavior.
