Measuring sizes of items in an image

Our business are storing things for consumers and businesses. We pick up stuff at the customers place, take them to our warehouse, take data on the items, store them and then take them back when the customer wants. It can be everything from bicycles, to tables, boxes and pillows.
The data we collect is measurements (height, width and depth), and photos. The measurements sets what we charge the consumer (which is based by total volume, e.g. the sum of the volume for each item). The photo is displayed to the customer in their "inventory list".
Currently, we use a ruler to make the measurements and take photos separately with an iphone, which is a time consuming task. Since we still take pictures, we would like to make the measurements straight out of the picture.
We are willing to make necessary changes to camera, lighting conditions, background, angles etc.
In the images there are two red lines (behind the item and one below). These are exactly 0,10m long. In the attached drawing a few more distances are shown.
