Risk Analysist multi-hazard spatial risk

Risk Analyst will oversee the development of decision tools and the requisite multi-hazard spatial risk data and information systems required for it. This includes the review of prior risk data and information initiatives, such as PCRAFI with a view to develop a modern digital information and data decision support systems. The risk for planners decision support tools will contextualize risk information to inform decisions and/or develop evidence based policy. The applications will drive the development of the tools and systems development will be based on extensive consultation and engagement with target user groups, such as urban planners, infrastructure/investment planners and disaster managers in PREP countries and a thorough understanding of planning processes and work flows. 1)A Master’s degree, or equivalent experience, in a relevant field, e.g. geo-science, environmental science, engineering, with demonstrated experience in hazard or risk analysis applications; 2) Experience in developing hazard and/or risk analysis solutions for strengthening disaster reparedness and response planning, land use planning, strengthening building codes at related risk reduction options; 3) At least 10 years of professional experience in a senior project management post with increasing modern management responsibility in fields related to the assignment; 4) Experience in risk assessment and hazard modelling; 5)Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English both at the technical level and in terms of policy advice within Geoscience Division and SPC and to Pacific island countries; 6) Advanced understanding of issues related to disaster risk management or climate change adaptation in the Pacific. Demonstrated work in multicultural environments, ability to take initiative and work without supervision, Ability to lead a small team, with a high level of interpersonal skills, flexible approach and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and working experience of the cultures and the working environments of small island states and the ability to be proactive in developing new ideas to serve and to address the variety of needs are also required. The following Qualifications and Knowledge/Experience are Desirable: a) Qualifications in project management; b) Experience in addressing disaster risk management or climate change adaptation issues in the Pacific at regional and national level
