Companies are very interested in organic transistors for cutting edge products.
In this project, you will
(A) briefly review several patents :
An expired patent by a German company for a diphenyl diketo.
2 current patents by the same German company for diphenyl diketos as transistors, and 1-2 current patents by them for a dtt diketo as transistor.
An expired patent by a Japanese company for a diphenyl diketo.
As you review the patents, you will learn about sustituents common for transistors.
(B) You will use your software, or shareware software, and predict the torsion angle of the molecule, which suggests the conjugation of the diketo molecule, with the substituent. If you wish, you can also consider their Lumo and Homo, etc.
You can compare the torsion angle of the industry standard dithenyl-diketo, to the substituents for the diphenyl-diketo.
c) Once you have confirmed the liklihood of several conjugated diphenyl-diketos, you will review the chemistry databases for scientific articles which describe the likely diphenyl-diketo. You will send a list of the scientific articles to us.
d) After I review the articles, I will pick out 2-5 possible diphenyl-diketos to test. You will suggest synthesis methods for them (Usually the scientific articles already have the synthesis methods in them already.)
