Update to make it more cleare:
I need a c++ dll or some c# code, with a function that takes username/password or username/domain/password as arguments and then logs on that user at the desktop/console of the computer, without needing to reboot the computer, and without using a remote desktop client.
Everything else is just "nice to have"
Must have:
This must work both on a standalone windows client or server with local accounts, and on domain joined windows client/server with both local and domain users.
This should, if possible, be done without the need to install a credential provider ( like [login to view URL] ).
If some of the code needs to be written in C++ that is perfectly fine, as long as tested example code on how to call this from C# is added
First, nice to have:
We need a piece of C# code that I can run from a windows service, that will logon a user as a remote user ( like RDP ).
The code does not need to handle keyboard/mouse mapping, since we will be connecting to the session using RDP once the session has started.
Why not just use rdp, you might ask. Often we see errors where something goes wrong, or a company policy has "warning dialogs" doing login, that we cannot detect using RDP.
So if we can logon the user, programmatically, and then "take over" the session using the RDP client once fully logged in, we can catch all errors and handle them accordingly.
If some of the code needs to be written in C++ that is perfectly fine, as long as tested example code on how to call this from C# is added
Second, nice to have:
We need a piece of C# code that I can run from a windows service , that will logon a user a DIFFERENT user at the desktop of the computer, if someone is already logged on ( user switching )
If some of the code needs to be written in C++ that is perfectly fine, as long as tested example code on how to call this from C# is added
Kind of what this guy is asking for
or this guy
This person claims microsoft say it cannot be done, yet it seems it can be done anyway

Hey there,
Did you already try:
> On the server, you will have to allow RDP sessions with network level authentication disabled (which is in the control panel remote settings), and either your RDP client must be old enough to not support network level authentication (i. e. from WinXP or before) or you have to connect via a .rdp file that contains the option enablecredsspsupport:i:0.
This would allow you to see the "welcome screen" / "login screen" in windows through RDP.
As for your assignment, I don't have the required knowledge at the moment to make that possible (Windows Internals), but I do have contact with a Windows API expert that might be able to help us - but no guarantees though.
It's not really about what programming language we will use here, it's more about determining which Windows API calls need to be made, with which parameters. Programming the calls in the correct order with the required parameters can be done in any language.
Do you maybe have a virtual machine image where the problem you are encountering can be demonstrated?
