Estimate MUST be for a mac and windows version of the application Self Contained Web Site Browser for targeted content Summary: The need for a standalone application in order to facilitate the required level of security and control of a new social media site. The application will encase the provided content and provide additional caching capabilities to reduce bandwidth requirements of the social media site. Versions of the application will be need for Windows and Mac environments while supporting current browser capabilities. The following items are defined as the needed capabilities of the stand alone browser application Requirements • Application must include a installation program • Must run in full screen mode maximizing display area o User must be able to minimize or close the application • Application must present a custom browser type through http headers to provide the web content the ability to determine version and authorization to display content o Header will be used by web application to limit execution from other browsers • Application must call a web service to retrieve a list of authorized url paths to display o List of url’s will keep program from being used to display content paths not in list • All parameters, such as web service path will be kept in encrypted “ini” file • Application must control mouse clicks and keyboard short cuts o Blocking of right click on flash and images to protect content o Short cut keys blocked for the same purpose • Application must utilize authorized url list to keep users from spawning external browsers from content within social media site o Such as if a web address is sent to a user in a chat session they will not be able to click on that content and go to it from within the application or a new browser spawned from the click. o This will be used to fully encapsulate the user experience • Application must allow external content to be utilized from within the web content o Such as the embedding of YouTube videos o This authorized embedded content will be validated via web service. • Application will support current CSS standards • Application will support /but not be limited too o JavaScript o HTML o Flash o Java o Streaming Content • Application will present version through http headers in order for web content to prompt for download of new application • For CD/USB installation the following must be included o Auto run o Local Splash screen • Application must contain a start page within the encrypted “ini” file o Application must be able to update ini file from web service information • Developer must furnish specs for web services to accommodate the requirements • Application must support current versions of operating systems and previous generations of OS’s within reasonable expectations Optional Capabilities • Application to provide the capability to preload content such as images and audio for site • Application to provide a content library that is controlled via web services for images and audio o Web Service will specify off peak times for download updates • Application to remain running in background mode, such as in the system tray in order to download content o The user may select if this is allowed o The user may close the background application Deliverables • All Source code for application • CD Installation binaries • Downloadable installation binaries • Rights to all source code developed • Web Service definitions to be developed and delivered at earliest time to allow client to implement web services for the application to be developed and tested.
